After browsing a financial crisis for several years, the University of Peshawar (UoP) has finally been ready to pay salaries and pensions to its employees without borrowing one penny.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Muhammad Idrees, said that because of the provincial government’s grant, the varsity has become self-sufficient and even had a surplus amount during the last few months.
The university took loans for payment of salaries within the past. However, with the support of the KP government, we've paid salaries to the workers also as pensions and also met the running cost during the last two months and even have surplus amount,” he added.
Dr. Idrees said that their next area of focus was research, because the varsity wanted to supply standard research facilities to the scholars of M.Phil and Ph.D.
“Since the start of the year 2021, Advance Studies Research Board (ASRB) held eight sessions, which approved the research topics of the many M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars. this is often vital because many students were stuck during this process. whenever we get a couple of cases, we hold ASRB to clear those cases in order that the time of scholars isn't wasted,” he added.
The VC also said that biometric attendance machines would be installed within the varsity to make sure that teachers and other staff perform their duties and remain available for college kids from 8 am till 4 pm
